José Carlos Loureiro (1925–2022) was a prominent Portuguese architect, recognized as one of the most influential figures of the third generation of modernist architects in Portugal.

Born in Covilhã, he enrolled in the School of Fine Arts of Porto in 1941, where he later graduated in Architecture and went on to teach.

Throughout his career, Loureiro developed a diverse portfolio that spans private homes, public buildings, and religious architecture. Some of his most iconic works include the Pavilhão dos Desportos (now Super Bock Arena) in the Palácio de Cristal and the Hotel D. Henrique, both located in Porto.

His architectural work is marked by a deep commitment and sensitivity to the relationship between design and construction, reflecting a thoughtful and passionate approach to modern architecture.
